REGULAR MEETING

PRESENT WERE:

SUPERINTENDENT:
  1. We are approving changes made to policies approved in January
  2. Negotiations team met tonight to go through contract
  3. Contract opener is May 6, 2010 at 3:00 p.m.
  4. Painting is going on in high school
  5. Facilities committee is going with Millers for landscaping
  6. We had to buy a new mower for the football field $2,000: Athletic Fund; $1,000: MCAL; $1,000: Athletic Boosters; $2,500: General Fund
  7. Monroeville On Display is going on during May 6 ‚ May 8
APPROVED:
  1. Financial Statements for March 2010
  2. Fund to Fund transfers
  3. Appropriation modifications
  4. Approve Treasurer Elise Gray to seek bids for a new school bus
  5. Cooperative Purchasing Program in the amount of $100
  6. Fitzgerald's Body Shop to do body work on Bus #1 at the cost of $6,000
  7. Contract between the Monroeville Board of Education and the Lorain County ESC for Speech, Audiological and Parent Mentor services for the 2010-2011 school year
  8. American Time & Signal to install clocks, signal indicator, battery backup in the amount of $7,111.66
  9. Koch Aluminum $5,700 for new high school classroom doors
  10. Koch Aluminum $4,000 to replace elementary gym entry door
  11. Authorize the superintendent to expend not more than $9,500 for elementary bathroom plumbing
  12. Shearer Implement for $6,500 for new mower ($2,000 donation from athletic department, $1,000 donation from MCAL, and $1,000 donation from Athletic Boosters)
  13. Sound Solutions to install sound systems in the Choir and Band rooms in the amount of $3,138.16 for each room. Total cost of $6,276.32 to be reimbursed by the Music Boosters
  14. $10,000 to Miller Landscaping & Gardens for installation of new landscaping
  15. Policy revision of Chapter VI and VII of the Board Policy Manual as follows: 6.13-Grading Systems; 6.43-Prohibition for Extra-Curricular Activities; 7.09-Credit Flexibility
  16. Donation of a Samsung DVD/VHS player from David Stubblebine
  17. Sale of old and obsolete computers for $25 each
  18. Sale of a 345 John Deere tractor to Jeremy Loose for $1.00
EMPLOYMENT:
  1. Step change of Ralph Ritzenthaler as Varsity Assistant Sofftball coach from Step 0 to Step 11
  2. Continuing contract for Monica Fondriest, Brandon Biehl, Jamie Charville, Deborah Harwood, Caroline Schnetzer, Scott Bauer, Salena Maazaoui
  3. Pam Smith for grounds maintenance (lawn mowing)
  4. Maternity leave for Julie Castle (using accumulated sick days) starting May 3, 2010
  5. Cecilia Adams and Dawn Oney as substitute teachers
  6. Zac Reer as the Health and Physical Education teacher for the 2010-2011 school year (Step 2)
DISCUSSION:
  1. Twist & Shout Driveway: when electric pole at Twist & Shout is moved, they want to move sign and widen the driveway for safety (Twist & Shout will be paying for all expenses incurred for change). They need the schools permission because part of the move will be made on our property
  2. Playground: talked about redesign of our playground
  3. Clark Park: Village meeting April 27, 2010 (Ben Paul and Steve Reer will be attending)
